The second of two EDIP Common Procurement Actions calls, with a deadline of 16 February 2027 (the first closes on 13 October 2026). EDIP invests EUR 240 million in the joint procurement of defence equipment by Member States and Norway, with up to EUR 20 million of EU contribution per project. The aim is less fragmentation and greater interoperability, focusing on counter-drone, air and missile defence and ground and naval combat systems among others. The call builds on EDIRPA (2023), which used EUR 300 million to leverage over EUR 11 billion in joint procurement. For Flemish and Belgian suppliers this is not a direct application: you position yourself through the national contracting authority and the consortium. Horizon EuropeOpen
A single-stage call within Horizon Europe Cluster 1 Health, comprising ten topics. The call opens on 29 October 2026 and closes on 17 February 2027. Watch the calendar carefully: these dates have been brought forward compared with the original 2026-2027 work programme. On 23 June 2026, updated on 8 July, NCP Brussels reported that both the work programmes and the Participant Portal are being amended and that the 2027 topics will open and close earlier than first announced. Anyone planning on the old schedule loses preparation time. For Belgian and Flemish medtech, biotech and digital health companies this is, alongside IHI, the main European route for health research in consortium with knowledge institutions, hospitals and care providers. For reference: HORIZON-HLTH-2026-01 closed on 16 April 2026 and HORIZON-HLTH-2026-02 under the ERDERA partnership on 15 September 2026.

A two-stage call within Horizon Europe Cluster 1 Health, comprising four topics. The call opens on 29 October 2026; the first stage closes on 17 February 2027 and the second on 16 September 2027. As with HORIZON-HLTH-2027-01, these dates have been brought forward compared with the original 2026-2027 work programme, as NCP Brussels reported on 23 June 2026 (updated 8 July). The two-stage format is particularly attractive for consortia that are not yet complete: you first invest in a short proposal and only develop the full dossier after passing stage one. That lowers the barrier for SMEs and scale-ups still looking for partners, and leaves seven months between the two stages.

Provisional dates are 25 February 2027 for stage one and 16 September 2027 for the full proposal. Pathfinder funds visionary, high-risk research into radically new technologies, carried out by consortia of companies, SMEs, universities and research organisations. Note that the work programme has not yet been formally adopted, so dates and conditions may still change.

Call 6 is a capitalisation call: you build on an output already achieved in an Interreg North Sea project from the 2021-2027 period and scale it up to a new target group, field or geography. Simply continuing the original project will be rejected. The call opens on 1 December 2026 and closes on 15 March 2027 at 12:00 CET. Projects have 3 to 9 partners from at least 3 programme countries, run for 1.5 to 2 years and can budget up to EUR 1 million. At least 2 partners must come from a current or closed Interreg North Sea project, and the lead partner must itself have worked on one during the current programme period. Every application combines one programme spotlight theme with one call-specific theme (competitiveness, stronger rural areas or resilience). Joint consultations with the Joint Secretariat and the National Contact Points run until 19 February 2027 and are strongly recommended. Decision in May/June 2027.

Pre-registration runs from 15 to 29 January 2027 and submission from 22 March to 23 April 2027; the call text is published in November 2026. Schaalklaar targets innovative companies between 1 and 5 years old based in the Flemish Region that intend to scale up in the short term. Support is up to EUR 350,000 (up to 70% of the approved project budget) over a maximum of 3 years, with a minimum budgeted project cost of EUR 500,000 and payment tied to milestones. Note the scope: Schaalklaar funds precisely those activities that do not fit a feasibility study, research project or development project — the aim is to make the company ready to scale, not to fund the scale-up phase itself. The FWO's TBM programme funds the further development of therapies, diagnostic techniques and prevention methods that, because of a lack of industrial interest, would not reach the patient without public funding. Note the flip side: this is expressly NOT an instrument for companies. Only research centres such as universities, university hospitals, university colleges and strategic research centres are eligible, and a hard admissibility condition is that no industrial interest in the project exists for commercial reasons. At least 10% of the budget must go to a Flemish hospital or the ITM, and at most 20% to non-Flemish research centres. Projects run 2 to 4 years at a 100% funding rate, between EUR 215,000 and EUR 850,000, exceptionally up to EUR 1,275,000 for large or multicentre trials. The 2026 call budget was EUR 14.8 million and the 2025 call had a 29% success rate. The 2026 call opened on 19 February and closed on 23 April 2026; results follow on 26 November 2026 and approved projects start on 1 January 2027. A pre-notification with a short abstract via tbm@fwo.be is strongly recommended and is possible even before the next call opens.
