Horizon Europe 2021-2027
Horizon Europe is the EU's main funding program for research and innovation with a budget of €95.5 billion.
The program works around 3 pillars: excellent science, innovation around societal challenges and market-creating innovation.
The Horizon Europe program is open to all types of organizations from the EU Member States and Associated Countries. From start-ups, SMEs, universities and research organizations to large companies.
European Innovation Council (EIC)
The European Innovation Council (EIC) was established under the EU Horizon Europe programme. It mainly focuses on companies.
It has a budget of €10.1 billion to support breakthrough innovations throughout the lifecycle, from early stage research to proof of concept, technology transfer and the financing and scale-up of start-ups and SMEs.
Innovation Fund
The Innovation Fund is a funding program for the demonstration of innovative low-carbon technologies. It will provide around EUR 38 billion in support from 2020 to 2030.
The fund works through calls for large and small-scale projects aimed at:- innovative low-carbon technologies and processes
- carbon capture and utilization (CCU)
- carbon capture and storage facility (CCS)
- innovative sustainable energy generation
- energy storage
European Defence Fund
The European Defense Fund (EDF) aims to support and develop the strategic autonomy of the EU defense industry.
Development and research actions are financed on the basis of an annual work programme. A total of almost EUR 8 billion will be earmarked for the various actions in the period 2021-2027.
Depending on the type of actions, up to 100% support can be awarded.
